CMD Founder Paul Carter Hemlin has been confirmed as the international key note speaker for the 2010 Contracts event to be held in Dubai in January.  He will be opening the conference with a presentation on Contract Management Challenges in a Downturn, where he will provide advice on what practical steps contract managers need to be taking in 2010 to protect their organisations and ensure maximum value for money is obtained from their contracts.  Paul said “I am very excited about the prospect of returning to Dubai, at the conference I want to get the message across that as Contract Managers it is our job to create the platform to manage uncertainty, provide clarity of governance and deliver sustained economic value out of every transaction we participate in.  Given the current global financial climate this is more important than ever before“.

Paul will also lead 2 workshops at the 4 day event, the first being a Service Levels Agreement mater-class.  He is a renowned expert in SLAs having drafted and managed numerous SLA schedules in a wide range of complex contracts, he has also provided training on this important contract topic in numerous countries.  The second workshop will focus on dispute resolution and how to successfully navigate such issues.  Disputes are inevitable as part of any downturn and the workshop will focus on approach and strategy when submitting or defending a claim.   Paul has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators for over 10 years and with his Master’s Degree in Law and Arbitration he has considerable hands-on experience in this area.
